These colorful little gouache works emerged in the winter of 2014 in Brooklyn. Since I had no separate workspace at the time in New York, they were the perfect size and medium for painting in my apartment. They also served as a means to keep my process moving in the intervals between Brooklyn and Switzerland. Above all, what I most needed in these New York moments was to maintain a fresh flow of imagery. Also important is an open process, one that may continually develop new realizations. I may even derive whole series of other works from such small, relatively quick images. Ultimately what I want is art forms that may possess a radiant becoming: expressions consisting of constantly developing new features.
