Sculpture 2017

After a fallow period in sculpture of nearly a dozen years, I finally came back to it in 2017. At this time, however, I began to think more in terms of small scale models (or “maquettes”) rather than full-scale pieces. It certainly makes more sense to work this way in order to achieve a greater development of forms, compositions and themes in a relatively short span of time. In hindsight, I can now see these works as attempts to break out of earlier patterns along with a desire to discover more clarified solutions. Above all, what I have wanted in my sculptures (as well as in my paintings) are images and compositions that may elicit a more rarified feeling of the radiant, dream-like imagination. To find my own unique sense of this content through a creative process remains an important goal.
